Case Study: Sharing Intelligence across Continents

Published by Niall Cook July 9th, 2007 in Cogenz, Collective intelligence, Enterprise bookmarking, Knowledge management

Further to the case study we recently published demonstrating how BUPA are using social bookmarking to facilitate networking across their organisation, we just posted another that outlines how a web development company are using it to share intelligence across continents.

Whilst Cogenz shares an investor with the subject of our second case study, iConcertina, there were under no obligation to use the service - although the marketing was a little easier ;-). In fact, they had already evaluated public social bookmarking services with group functionality and open source software before deciding that the benefits of using an established service outweighed the time and effort involved in configuring, customising and supporting an internal solution.

In general terms, they have found that at least 10% of their staff contribute bookmarks on a regular basis, with the rest "lurkers" monitoring for relevant information.

Again, you can read the case study online, or download a PDF (188Kb).
